Today we headed back into the park as the front has passed and the sun is shining. There were several areas of the park we didn’t get to check out due to the scattered showers and the road construction. The roads in most national parks are fairly narrow with two lanes and were built in the 1940’s. When they do work on them they have to shut down one lane and you can wait for sometimes 30 or 40 minutes for your turn to go.
One of the roads took us to a very nice lake which had a great hiking trail around it.
The other road was my favorite. It was a one way dirt road that only went up (from 8,335 Ft. to the Alpine Visitors center at 11,796 Ft.) for 9 miles with a speed limit of 15 MPH. It was great.
